5GAA plays a leading role in global standardisation activities, ensuring that standards evolve in line with the needs of the automotive industry. By actively contributing to 3GPP and other standardisation bodies, 5GAA helps shape the future of 5G-Advanced, 6G, C-V2X, and next-generation connected technologies.
As connectivity evolves, 5GAA advocated for an orderly transition that supports long vehicle lifecycles and the continuity of services entering the market.
5GAA promotes key industry requirements, including service continuity, backward compatibility, resilient system architectures and alignment with vehicle deployment timelines. The association is also ensuring the emergence of next-generation technologies, such as AI-enabled features and the integration of Terrestrial and NTN. Looking ahead, these efforts will be consolidated through the new 6G Guardrails Work Item, with the aim of delivering a scoping paper in 2026.
